If you’re connecting your Avantree transmitter to your TV using an optical cable or HDMI ARC, please set your TV’s digital audio output format to PCM.
Don’t worry — it only takes a minute and you’ll only need to do this once.
Choose your TV brand below and follow the quick steps.

▶ Samsung
Please adjust your sound output and format.
1️⃣ Press Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then All Settings, then Sound, and choose Sound Output.
3️⃣ Select Optical or HDMI ARC.
4️⃣Return to Sound, open Expert Settings, and under Digital Output, choose PCM.
That’s it. Your transmitter should now receive TV sound normally.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[Samsung + model] set PCM.”
▶ Sony
You just need to change two quick settings.
1️⃣ Press Quick Settings or Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then Display & Sound, then Audio Output, then Digital Audio Output, and choose Speakers.
3️⃣ Select Audio System or HDMI ARC.
4️⃣ Return to Settings, select Sound.
5️⃣ Set Digital Output Out to PCM.
Once done, your transmitter will receive sound correctly.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[Sony + model] set PCM.“
▶ LG
LG TVs call this option “Digital Sound Output.” Here’s how to set it.
1️⃣ Press the gear button on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then Sound, then Sound Output, and choose Use Wired Speaker.
3️⃣ Select Optical Out Device or HDMI ARC.
4️⃣ Return to Sound, open Advanced Settings, and set Digital Sound Output to PCM.
That’s it. Your transmitter should now receive TV sound normally.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[LG + model] set PCM.”
▶ TCL
Let’s adjust the output and format settings.
1️⃣ Press Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings (gear icon), then Sound, then Audio Output.
3️⃣ Select Optical or HDMI ARC
4️⃣ Return to Sound, open Advanced Settings, and under Digital Audio Out, select PCM.
Once done, your transmitter will receive sound correctly.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[TCL+ model] set PCM.“
▶ Roku
You can update this setting right from the Audio menu.
1️⃣ Press Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then Audio, then Audio Output.
3️⃣ Select Optical or ARC.
4️⃣ Go back to Audio and select Digital output format.
5️⃣ Set Digital Sound Output to PCM.
After this, your transmitter will receive sound correctly.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[Roku+ model] set PCM.”
▶ VIZIO
Vizio TVs require turning off the built-in speakers first.
1️⃣ Press Menu on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Audio, then Audio Output.
3️⃣ Set TV Speakers to Off.
4️⃣ Open Digital Audio Out and select PCM.
Now your transmitter will receive sound correctly.

▶ Hisense
Please adjust both the output and format options.
1️⃣ Press Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then Sound, then Audio Output Settings, and open Audio Output.
3️⃣ Select Optical or ARC.
4️⃣ Return to Audio Output Settings, open Digital Audio Out, and choose PCM.
Your TV will now send sound correctly to your transmitter.
Tip: If menus look different, google: "[Hisense+ model] set PCM.”
▶ Philips
You’ll find this under the Audio Output section.
1️⃣ Press Home on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Settings, then All Settings, then Display & Sound, then Audio Output, and choose Output Device.
3️⃣ Select Optical or HDMI ARC
4️⃣ Return to Audio Output, open Audio Output Type, and select PCM.
That’s all. Your transmitter will receive sound correctly.
Note: If menus look different, google: "[Philips+ model] set PCM.“
▶ Panasonic
This setting is quick to find.
1️⃣ Press Menu on your remote.
2️⃣ Go to Sound (or Audio), then Digital Audio Out or Digital Audio Selection.
3️⃣ Select PCM
Once done, your transmitter will receive sound correctly.
Note: If menus look different, google: "[Panasonic+ model] set PCM.“
Once your TV’s digital audio output is set to PCM, your Avantree transmitter will receive the TV sound correctly.
If your receiver device such as headphones or a speaker is connected to the transmitter, you should now hear the TV sound clearly.
